SARA GRAHAM

Sara Graham’s work explores ideas and issues of the contemporary city. Looking at the connections and disconnections between the built environment and the landscape it occupies. Much of her work is inspired by the way she experiences the city through walking or using public transit. Walking in a city opens new possibilities. There is room to think while moving through a city, to notice, to wonder. Perspective, texture, connection.

Graham takes a cross-disciplinary approach often employing the methods and materials of architecture and city planning. Her work proposes alternative ways of looking at the city and its parts. Using the real to construct the imagined. Fata Morgana is a series of large-scale photographs about Vancouver which she created for the exhibition. Also showing are recent works of drawing, collage and maquettes.
